Help, could someone please post an english translation for this song. My German is so awful, all I remember is that Das Meer is The Sea (or Ocean) in English!! It is such a beautiful song, I would love to finally know what it''s all about!!

Thanx!!  :D

Hey Kirsty...
Hm, maybe I will try within the next few days , though it is more written in a "poem-like" way sometimes, so it might not be an exact translation...could even turn out to be totally wrong  wink

What about Torben ?
He has written thios song, maybe he can translate it aswell  8)  wink

Thanks for your help. I think a lot of Torben''s lyrics are more like poems than songs as such. Do the band have much input on this forum? I''m new here and my German is so bad that I probably won''t be visiting often!

@Kirsty:

With a little help from Biggi /mit der Hilfe von Biggi wink :

this still isn''t a "100%"- translation, guess it still is rough or maybe terribly wrong...but  we hope it will help you to catch enough of the "original meaning" of the lyrics

so here we go:

the sea

weighted by longing on the ground
wringing hands before the storm
thoughts dumb from blindness
the clouds are passing by

the ringing in the distance
like a gentle greeting from the stars
holds remembrance of eternity
of death of sky

smiling gentle return
tearless sinking
look back peacefully
as the dawn awakes

A lot stays forgotten
blurred and shatteres
at the light moments
alike the wash of the waves
above the sea

the sea abandoned
on the origin of being
dive into the sea let yourself drift
it’s years ago

the sea abandoned
on the origin of being
dive into the sea let yourself float
it’s years ago

let yourself fall into bottomless depths
silence and wistfulness silently enclose you
see yourself fly but your wings
are tired and weighty above the sea

weighted by longing on the ground
wringing hands before the storm
I will miss your silence
and in finiteness awakes

the sea abandoned
on the origin of being
dive into the sea let yourself drift
it’s years ago

the sea abandoned
on the origin of being
dive into the sea let yourself float
it’s years ago

Hi Kirsty,
My English is not good particularly, but I give myself trouble ;-)...
Were you with the Castle Rock (Mülheim) in Germany ? There Diorama played...
But "Das Meer" they did not play unfortunately.

Greetings from Betty

@ Os:
WOW! An Dir ist ein Dichter verloren gegangen. Das hätte ich wohl auch nach der x-ten Überarbeitung nicht hingekriegt.

@biggi:
